A floor that outlasts
the home it protects.

A two-coat polyaspartic floor — roughly twenty times the film of wall paint — installed in one day and rated where it matters: 3,400 psi tensile, 500 psi pull-off, concrete fracture.

The system

KTX-F Kinetic Fast-Cure Flake Broadcast.

A two-coat polyaspartic build. Kinetic HS direct to the concrete at 92–93% solids, flake broadcast to rejection into the wet coat, and Kinetic 85 topcoat over it at 85% solids and Shore D 86 — the harder of the two, on top.

The slab is diamond-ground to CSP 2–3 and photographed before a pail is opened. The finished floor reads ~19–20 mils dry — roughly twenty times a coat of wall paint — and pulls off at 500 psi with concrete fracture. That last number is printed on both data sheets: the bond outlasts the slab.

Every LYON floor is a residential standard. Commercial installations on request. We install through the 618 and 573 area codes, publish the exact products and film thickness on the invoice, and back every floor with a transferable lifetime warranty. See a copy of our warranty prior to sale. 16 CFR 239.2(a).

Polyaspartic vs. Epoxy

A different chemistry. A different floor.

LYON KTX-F Polyaspartic

The system we install.

  • Two coats. ~19–20 mils dry. Installed in one day.
  • 3,400 psi tensile · Shore D 86 · 32 mg abrasion loss (topcoat).
  • 500 psi pull-off adhesion — concrete fractures first.
  • UV stable — never yellows, indoors or out.
  • Standard install down to a 32°F dry slab.
Traditional Epoxy

What most of the market sells.

  • Long cure windows — often two-day installs.
  • Yellows under UV. No independent test data typically published.
  • Will not cure below roughly 50°F ambient.
  • Adhesion and warranty terms usually not disclosed.
  • One-year warranties common; transferability rare.

The finishes

Four systems. Endless variations.

Every LYON floor starts with the same Kinetic HS base and Kinetic 85 topcoat. What changes is the middle layer — and that is what makes the room.

The five-step process

One day. Done right.

  1. 01

    Four-gate site inspection

Slab temperature, ambient humidity, in-slab moisture (ASTM F2170), and dew-point margin are read on-site — before we quote a price. If any gate fails, we tell you what changes.

  2. 02

    Diamond grind to CSP 2–3

The slab is ground to a Concrete Surface Profile of 2–3 with dust-controlled equipment, photographed for the file, and every crack, chip, and pit is filled and repaired before a pail is opened.

  3. 03

    Kinetic HS broadcast coat

Kinetic HS polyaspartic at 92–93% solids goes straight to the concrete — no primer needed on a dry slab. Applied at manufacturer spread rates with a 30-minute pot life.

  4. 04

    Quarter-inch flake, broadcast to rejection

Vinyl flake is broadcast into the wet coat until the slab will accept no more. Excess is scraped and vacuumed for the next job.

  5. 05

    Kinetic 85 UV-stable topcoat

Kinetic 85 polyaspartic at 85% solids and Shore D 86 seals the floor — the harder of the two layers, on top. Total film reads ~19–20 mils dry. Written warranty delivered before we leave.

The warranty

Lifetime. Transferable. In writing.

LYON's written warranty stays with the floor, not the buyer. If the home sells, the coverage transfers to the next owner. It is one of the four claims no other operator in our territory publishes.

The warranty covers chipping, peeling, and delamination — the failure modes 500 psi pull-off adhesion with concrete fracture is designed to prevent. A full copy of the warranty document, with exclusions and claim procedure, is provided at the estimate and again with the signed job packet. See a copy of our warranty prior to sale. 16 CFR 239.2(a).

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

Why not just buy a DIY epoxy kit from the hardware store?

Because it isn't paint. Every floor requires a slab moisture test, a diamond grind to CSP 2–3, and a two-coat polyaspartic system installed inside a narrow temperature and dew-point window. A DIY kit skips all four. Most lift within two winters.

How long does the install take?

One day for most residential garages. Ground on Monday, walked on Monday night, driven on Tuesday. Larger commercial spaces may require two.

Do you install in the winter?

Yes. Our polyaspartic system installs on slabs as cold as 32°F, provided the four go/no-go gates (slab temp, humidity, moisture, and dew point) pass. Traditional epoxy needs 50°F minimum and stops working from November through March.

Is the warranty really transferable?

Yes. Lifetime for the original owner, 15 years transferable to the next. In writing, delivered before we leave the job.

What does a typical garage cost?

LYON is priced at $8.50 per square foot with a $2,800 minimum. A standard two-stall garage of about 484 square feet averages $4,114. Larger and premium metallic finishes are quoted after a free on-site inspection.

What products actually go on my floor?

Kinetic HS polyaspartic for coat one, quarter-inch vinyl flake broadcast to rejection, and Kinetic 85 polyaspartic as the UV-stable topcoat. Both are Resinwerks products with published data sheets — we'll email them with your quote. Total film build is ~19–20 mils dry, roughly twenty times a coat of wall paint.
